Wayne Summers received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Mathematical Sciences from St. Louis University in 1980 and 1986, respectively. He wrote his dissertation in compiler writing. Dr. Summers has been teaching computer science for over twenty-five years, having taught on four different continents. Dr. Summers is currently the Distinguished Chairperson and Professor of the TSYS Department of Computer Science at Columbus State University. He is the co-director of CSU’s Center for Information Assurance Education. From 1995-2006, Dr. Summers was a Course Director for the NSF Chautauqua Faculty Development Program. He has conducted many workshops for faculty on computer networking and security under the auspices of the NSF and the NSA’s Center of Academic Excellence and has lectured on computer security in a number of countries. Dr. Summers has written a book Computer Viruses What They Are and How to Prevent Them. He has published articles on a variety of different areas in computer science in a variety of different venues. Dr. Summers teaches courses in computer networks, computer security, history of computing, and computer programming. He has supervised undergraduate and graduate research in a variety of areas.
